UK Charity Sale: Handmade Dutch Doll, aka Grodnertal Doll or Penny Wooden.
UK Sale Only. I am selling one of the dolls that I made in my video series on Dutch Dolls, with all proceeds of sale going to the MDS Patient Support blood cancer charity.
This is a wooden jointed doll that I have made from a birch tree using traditional greenwood working techniques. The body has been turned on a traditional foot powered pole lathe, and the arms and legs have been split from a log and hammered through a dowel plate in the traditional way. All the joints are hand cut using a foot powered treadle saw. This doll is dressed in clothes that I have sewn together on my hand crank Singer 66 sewing machine. The sewing is rudimentary, but it does reflect the character of these dolls, that were often dressed by children as a means of learning to sew. You can see the whole making process on my YouTube channel as Harry Rogers.
This doll is closely in the style of the Grodnertal dolls aka Dutch dolls, and all measurements have been taken from antique dolls. This doll is approximately 12 inches high.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS DOLL IS FOR ADULTS, I HAVE NOT HAD IT SAFETY TESTED FOR CHILDREN.
I am only offering this doll to people in the UK, as its a UK charity. By buying this doll you will be supporting people at a very difficult time in their lives. MDS is a failure of the bone marrow to form healthy blood cells, this leads to extreme tiredness and other complications. I am making nothing from this sale, your money goes to the MDS blood cancer charity.
